MOD 2 CA Impact of Culture on International Business After reading the first article, “The Pitfalls of Cross-cultural Business,” I had to keep myself from laughing out loud. The reason for this is because I know exactly how Nixon must have felt after being told what the meaning of his gesture really meant. I visited South America for some time now and knew a few Brazilians who had informed me that that A-OK sign was not so OK in Brazil. I have been stationed in Korea for the past year and have noticed the group environment. That is, businessmen and women (mostly men, though) going out together to business meetings at restaurants and sharing ideas as well as alcohol (soju being the drink of choice here in Korea). I have also observed American businessmen taking part in these meetings and I am surprised to see that they seem to have picked up on the customs quite quickly.
