Sir, I found an article that relates to the topic on chapter 5: The Swine Flu. The Swine Flu is the Influenza manifesting itself in pigs. The disease can be a subset of a RNA virus that will attack the animals or it can be endemic to the pig population. What causes the flu in pigs is the Influenza A and C virus, however not all genotypes of these two species infect pigs. The known subtypes of Influenza A Virus that create influenza in pigs and are endemic in pigs are H1N1, H1N2 and H3N2 (1). The H1N1 virus is the one credited with the shifting cross over to humans in the beginning o the 20 th century, The 1918 Flu or The Spanish Flu, that killed as many as 50 million people.
