Axia College Material Appendix B Final Exam Access the Electronic Reserve Readings link on your student Web site for Week Nine. Select one of the topics below and read both articles that present opposing sides of the argument surrounding that topic. o Animal experimentation o Outsourcing o Media violence Answer the following questions in paragraphs of approximately 100 words demonstrating your critical and creative thinking skills. 1. Identify if the topic you chose, as presented by both articles, is a problem or an issue and explain what makes it a problem or an issue. If you believe the articles present both problems and issues, identify and explain what the problems are and what the issues are. The topic in which I have selected is media violence. It seems as if the topic media violence is more of problem rather than an issue. I have selected the word problem over issue because problem seems more suitable due to the fact that problems are more difficult to overcome rather than issues. Issues are more of simple complications which can be corrected, or a solution found more easily. To name or single out a problem in general, I would probably have to say one of the biggest ones is exposure. Exposure causes a lot of the main problems and or issues in the media. Exposure has a key link to everything, media exposure, and exposure of or to the people. 2. Were the problems or issues expressed effectively? Describe how the problems or issues were or were not best expressed. I felt is if the problems were expressed effectively and well understood. I feel as if there are a lot more problems out there that could had been discussed or expressed further on. I feel as if something that people need to take into consideration is that we only see the media as the bad, well what about the everyday situations that go on in life. All of the bad influences that happen around the neighborhood, school, even at a park, surely you can’t link every mishap and everything that goes wrong with the media. Or can you? There are always going to be those people that think violent movies, video games, and or just tv, or media in general are to blame. I think not, if you don’t want your children watching a certain TV show, or hanging out with certain people, well then be the parent and take charge. 3.
