Ode to the Forgotten’s Chalk-Up Day Ode to the forgotten is a non-profit that some friends of and I started about three years ago in high school. During my senior year of high school, my good friend Sarah saw how much poverty was a problem not only in Indianapolis but around the world. And not just physical poverty – monetary poverty – stuff poverty – but emotional poverty (depression) as well. So, she started thinking about how she could help. Sarah started to think about all of her gifts and talents and how she could contribute to helping eradicate poverty. Our group of friends is very good at art – music, poetry, painting, drawing etc. How could we use our gifts and talents of the arts to help those in need? This began the creation of Ode to the Forgotten. As an organization (and an IUPUI student organization), we aim to inform and inspire people to get involved in their local communities to help eradicate both physical and emotional poverty. We do this by touring to churches and schools to put on theatrical performances. These
