Case study assignment 4 1. Adidas AG’s corporate strategy is to make acquisitions that would allow it to surpass Nike as the global leader of sporting goods. Prior to 2005-2006’s restructuring for the Adidas Company there was no strategy in managing the sporting goods business it seems. There was no strategy in how they were going to use the acquisition of Salomon SA to benefit the company. The corporate strategy did change in 2005-2006 because they decided to sell off the parts of the business that they had acquired. They would be left only with the Golf division of Salomon SA, the companies name was changed to Adidas AG from that point. In 2006 the company acquired Reebok International Ltd. this would be a final component in the strategy they formed to restructure the business. 2. In seeing that the company has come from a very unstable strategy to a firm strategy, I believe that Adidas AG has finally found an owner that can truly see the vision and mission behind what Adi Dassler started. The lineup of business from TaylorMade golf, Reebok, and Adidas AG had efficiently formulated a strategy to accomplish its corporate
