SOUTH TEXAS- SOUTHWEST TEXAS- bicultural- Mexican American and Roman catholic Economy depends on agriculture GERMAN HILL COUNTRY- European culture and flavor Socailly and politically conservative WEST TEXAS- THE PANHANDLE- NORTH TEXAS- CENTRAL TEXAS- pro-union/pro-secession -- statehood role of KKK in Texas- First organized in the 1860’s, reborn in the 1920’s, saw themselves as patriotic and Christian
