Oral Presentation #2 TEAM PRESENTATION Presentation Goals 1. To work effectively as a team during presentation preparations (reminding others of upcoming deadlines, suggesting revisions, offering encouragement, etc.). 2. To prepare and deliver a smooth, unified presentation delivered by a team of approximately 5-10 students. 3. To use effective nonverbal delivery—especially eye contact. 4. To use nonspeaking team members as assets (turning on/off lights, passing out handouts, moving furniture, looking interested, etc.) instead of distractions (not paying attention, distracting mannerisms, talking, etc.). 5. To prepare and distribute effective visual aids. Before the Presentation Preparation The instructor will divide the class into several teams (based on alphabetic order of last names) and assign each team to present chapters from an assigned business reference book. Each team will present a 25-40 minute PowerPoint-assisted presentation, depending on the number of team members. Instructions: 1. Assigning students to teams . The instructor assigned all students currently enrolled in the course to a team of 5-10 students. The list of team members is available in another file in the “Oral Presentation #2” section of the BlackBoard Learning Modules. Students must meet two task deadlines to remain in the group. Those two tasks are discussed later in Instructions #3 and #4. 2. Assigning speaking dates . The instructor assigned business reference books and speaking dates in approximate reverse order of Oral Presentation #1 speaking order. That is, teams containing students who delivered Oral Presentation #1 on the final date are likely to deliver Oral Presentation #2 on the first date. The list of assigned chapters and speaking dates is available in another file in the “Oral Presentation #2” section of the BlackBoard Learning Modules. 3. Selecting book chapters and notifying teammates of those selections . Individual team members must select one chapter from the assigned business reference book. Those chapters have been listed in Appendix A of this assignment sheet. Each speaker is required to present enough material to meet the speaking time requirement (5-8 minutes). The team is not required to present all of the book chapters. In addition, the team is not required to present the material assigned to a student who drops the course or is removed from

the team for missing posted deadlines. The team is required, however, to present the material of a regular team member absent on presentation day. Team members must share their chapter selection with other team members by posting it on the team’s private Blackboard Discussions Board no later than October 27 (3 weeks before presentation). Students who miss the October 27 deadline will lose 5 points . Team members are expected to monitor one another and send reminders to other members who
