Activity 12.17 (p. 417) Short Report Assignment ( Vital Speeches of the Day ) Your supervisor sent you to an out-of-town conference to hear a well-known speaker deliver the keynote address at the event. When you returned, the supervisor asked you to write a conference report (in memo format) summarizing the speaker’s main points. Even though you listened to the speech attentively, you were a little hazy about some of the details; therefore, you decided to see whether the speech manuscript was printed and available in an online secondary source. Fortunately, the complete speech manuscript is available. The supervisor said she doesn’t mind your consulting a secondary source to write your report; however, the supervisor insists that you provide an APA-formatted reference page and provide in-text citations for any idea taken from the secondary source. The supervisor said to use the usual short report format (the only items that need to be prepared in APA format are the reference page and the in-text citations). Instructions : Please complete these tasks: 1. Select a speech from Vital Speeches of the Day . The instructor will provide oral instructions on how to access a speech manuscript through one of the university library’s electronic databases.
