What do the terms race and ethnicity mean to you? Why are these concepts important to United States society? My personal idea of race would be the difference between groups of people for instance black people, white people, Spanish people, and Chinese people. This appears to be a generalization sampling placing people into groups based on color and/or origin. Ethnicity goes further into these races separating people by heritage based on religion, the countries they are from and so on. As I mentioned earlier black people are made of several different nationalities like Jamaican and the other islands in the Caribbean, or Africa and white people come from countries like Russia, Europe, etc. with country having its own sense of nationalism and each country having its own identity. A good example would be the fact that a Chinaman could be a practicing Muslim or an American being Catholic rather than Christian. I really do not see the need for us to broke into so many groups we should just be consider human
