Unformatted text preview: Other theories: Feminism Other theories: Feminism Apart from the 3 major theoretical frameworks, other theoretical perspectives are used within sociology Feminist theory has been very influential in contemporary sociological theory It analyses the status of women in society => Use that knowledge to better women’s lives Other theories: Feminism Other theories: Feminism Many (but not all) feminist scholars use the conflict perspective While Marx emphasised the conflict between capitalists & workers, he did not pay attention to women’s situation Eg: labour was analysed exclusively in the context of wage earners, and the social class of housewives was not adequately analysed by traditional Marxist thinkers Feminist scholars stress the conflict between men & women How the tradition dominance by men can be overcome to bring about equality of the sexes What all feminist scholars have in common is their focus on the experiences of women => This provides new ways of seeing the world and contributes to a more complete view of society Other theories...
