Instructions Send your solution set, via E-mail, to: [email protected] The “subject ” of your E-mail must be : ECE 231 HW#1 (your last name) Your solution set must be in the form of an attachment. I.e. a Microsoft Office file (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx) or a legible scan of a handwritten file. Your solution set must be sent to me by the deadline: Sunday, January 23 , 8p.m.
Problem #1 + - Battery Voltage = 12.5 Volts 5 Ohms Resistor Think carefully about which direction corresponds to positive current. Using Ohm’s law, write an equation that can be used to calculate i1. Solve the equation for the current i1 From Ohm’s law, the voltage across the resistor, from left to right , is given by Vlr = i1 x 5 Ohms. The + side of the battery is attached to the left side of the resistor, and the - side of the battery is attached to the right side of the resistor. Therefore Vlr = 12.5 Volts = i1 x 5 Ohms, and i1 = 2.5 Amperes i1
