Hospitalization can be a very stressful and emotional time for both the children and the parents involved, so if possible before the child is admitted to the hospital. I would suggest that they take a tour of the hospital or check out videos or, books that might help familiarize the child with the new surroundings that he or, she is about to enter. It would be a very difficult task to try to explain to a child of Kevin’s age exactly what he will be going through during his stay at the hospital. But if the parents could let him know that his stay was only going to be for a short period of time until he felt well enough to go back home and play with his toy’s, it might help...
