Mary’s Battle 1 Mary a 42-year-old female who has been battling breast cancer off and on for a number of years is going to face both negative and positive aspects when adapting to her terminal illness. One factor that may have a negative effect on Mary when it comes to adapting to her illness is that of her current age. Mary as a 42-year-old woman is most likely looking forward to enjoying her two children succeed with their lives and the freedom that she now has with her children out of the house which is going to make her adjustment to having a terminal illness hard for, her to deal with. Although Mary does currently have health insurance coverage through her current job, financial support may also play a negative effect on how she adjusts to her current diagnosis. When Mary is no longer able to work because of her illness, she will be forced to deal with the stress that comes from ongoing medical bills and treatments that may not be covered through her insurance because of deductibles and co-payments.
