Company History This is a new company that will be co-owned by me and my boyfriend, Chris. Chris is in pharmacy school and will receive his doctorate in 2011. I am currently finishing up my Master’s of Business Administration and will receive my degree in October 2010. With all we have to bring to a new business academically as well as with our passion to help people, we should prove to be very successful business owners. As co-owners he will manage the pharmaceutical aspect of the pharmacy while I am able to manage the administrative, financial, marketing, and all other aspects of the business side of the pharmacy. With the intention of offering the convenience of over the counter medications, vitamins, creams, cleanser, and many other products at a competitive price, we will offer customers a warm, friendly, and safe environment that will meet their pharmaceutical needs. Business and Industry Profile According to the NACDS Foundation Chain Pharmacy Industry Profile in 2008 there were 3,536 million dollars in sales of prescriptions in the United States totally $253.6 billion in revenue. There is a significant demand for prescriptions at independent retail pharmacies. The breakdown of preference to purchase pharmaceuticals shows that independently owned pharmacies sell more prescriptions than supermarkets and mail order combined accounting for 732 million or 20.7% of the total number of prescriptions sold in the United States.
