Income statements are detailed summaries that can provide information to current stockholders as well as  potential investors.  It includes a company’s revenue over a definite time frame, and the costs and  expenses related to that revenue. The overall statement’s purpose is to show the company’s net earnings  or losses.   Current and possible investors use may use the income statement to calculate and evaluate a company.
