Civil cases: cases between parties not involved in breaking criminal code. Most common types are contract cases and tort cases. b. Criminal cases: involve breaking criminal code. Government acts as prosecutor c. Public law cases: involve some question of whether or not law applies to a case or how law applies NOTE: Company v. People v.
