Person and Job / Organization Fit We’ve moved away from person/job fit to person/organization fit. Just as a company should know what kind of workers it seeks for its jobs, those seeking jobs should get to know the companies they are applying to as well. Person and Job / Organization Fit Older people are less likely to turnover: they have fewer opportunities out there in the world Older people are less likely to be absent if the reason is clearly avoidable: such as staying home just for the sake of it Older people tend to be more satisfied than younger workers if the work is professional Many firms prefer to hire older workers: they’re more reliable There are very few gender differences in companies in terms of stuff that matters: job satisfaction, turnover rates, performance However one major difference is that women tend to be more absent than men: this is due to things such as pregnancy, children On the average, senior female executives preferred to be at home: at work they tell people what to do, at home they have no power as the kids don’t listen to them Tenure: how long you’ve been on a particular job
