Achievement is a global indicator of adjustment Academic demands become especially challenging during MOTIVATION- The desire to do well COMMITMENT- Willingness to work hard SELF-EFFICACY- Intrinsic Motivation- Desire to achieve that focuses on mastery of the material and an interest in learning. Extrinsic Motivation- Desire to achieve that is determined by anticipation of Performance Goal Orientation- Goals for involvement in academic activities that focus on outcomes (such as grades). Mastery Goal Orientation- Goals for academic An individual's understanding of the effectiveness of their own behavior. Does the adolescent believe that he or she has the capacity to do well in school? Ability- "I got a good grade because I am smart“ Effort- "I got a good grade because I worked hard“ Task difficulty- "I got a good grade because the quiz was easy" Learned helplessness in academic situations is linked to attributions that failure is due to internal stable factors....
