There is technological advancement in communication, which are discussed in the article Superhero in the Cubicle by Virginia Citrano. One of those advancements is IBM Lotus Connections. This is a new Web-based application from Big Blue, which combines bookmarking, record keeping, blogging, plus more. It allows employees to record receipts, forms, e-mail, voicemail, instant messaging chats, and other like items in a central archive. This article also mentions an interactive spreadsheet from Spreadsheet.com, which allows workers around the world to share translation tasks in their language and return the work in the language of the recipient. An application like this can include everyone, including the president of the company in any decision making. Mashup software from Kapow Technologies is another advancement listed in the article. It gives users the ability to gather data in any format and redistribute it globally. In addition, researchers can find information on similar projects in other locations.
