Technology-Trendy Communication Susan Lewis 11/23/2011 Communication is how people interact with each other, whether at work or in their personal lives. People interact with each other in many ways verbally through words, using e-mail, text messages, and the verbal spoken work. People also communicate with each other non-verbally through pictures and company logos. Another form of communication is interpersonal non- verbal; this type of communication includes how long we leave people waiting and office sizes. (Axia College, 2008) Technology has brought how we communicate with each other to another level. Companies used to have to use flyers to advertise, chalk boards and flash cards for presentations and posted notes to leave someone a message. Today we use websites to advertise, PowerPoint for presentations, and e-mail and text messaging to receive information quickly. I do think that businesses use technology to communicate effectively. For example, in my workplace we use radios and earpieces to call for a supervisor when needed, instead of calling

The same hand held is used to scan an item to find where exactly in the store it should be stocked. Without this handheld technology, an employee could find himself or herself walking around for a long time trying to find a home for the item to be stocked. My employer also uses technological communication for advertisement, for example the sales circular for black Friday has been made available online for easy customer access; also provided is a map that offers a layout of where all sale items will be on the sales floor.
