Susan Lewis 2/5/2012 Business Writing Portfolio operational changes addressed are with respect to new hours of operation that will combat rising gas prices; saving money on store operations. Stakeholders will be informed that stores will no longer be open on Sundays. Additionally Monday through Sunday stores will open an hour later and close an hour earlier. We will not be closing any locations nor opening any new locations at this time. Also included in this portfolio is a plan for tuition reimbursement plan that would allow a company to reimburse employees for the cost of their education. Last attached you will find a PowerPoint presentation outlining the key points in giving an oral presentation. Reflections Managerial Communications course has given me the knowledge to understand communication not only by talking but also by listening and writing as well. This course has given me the tools that I have been lacking to close deals by knowing the audience’s characteristics, diversity and to ensure that my message is effective enough to gain the audiences trust in any business deal or presentation. Word choice can make or break a deal, depending on the type of audience reading or listening to the proposal. Working together in a group to complete an assignment for school or to close a business deal as a group is a challenge because understanding for group efforts and teamwork, which I will apply in school and in business to enhance my talking, writing, and listening skills.
