Learning objectives At the end of this lecture, you will be able to: 1) Predict the outcome of complementation tests for mutant phenotypes resulting from mutations in the same gene vs. mutations in two different genes. 2) Explain a genetic test cross to demonstrate two genes are linked on the same chromosome. 3) Determine the order and distance between the genes that are located on the same chromosome. 1. Complementation analysis can determine if two mutations causing a similar phenotype are in separate genes ! .
