Journal 2 Gender biases can be seen throughout pop culture, from commercials, to television shows, to movies on the big screen. Gender biases include, stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination, all based on a person’s sex. In today’s society, people prefer to be associated with a certain sex. In this way, both men and women categorize certain traits as being either specifically male or specifically female. Kelly Ripa appears in a commercial, in which she explains her busy day. She explains how her Electrolux appliances help her have the time to do all of the daily chores needed to keep her household running. The list of chores include cooking dinner, taking care of children and the family, dog, entertaining guests at a dinner party, doing the dishes, and then back to taking care of the kids. At no point in this commercial is there ever any sign of a husband or male figure doing any work. The bias in this commercial is not only the fact that Ripa is doing all of this work
