Journal 5 In modern American culture, most people assume that men and women are born different beings. The old saying that men are from Mars and women are from Venus summarizes the popular thought that psychological gender differences are innate, and that women and men are prone to be better at different daily tasks. Psychological research of the past, done mostly by men, seemed to support this theory; however it didn’t take into account the biases of the researchers themselves. In contrast, recent psychological research has shed new light on the topic. A review of the studies done years ago by biased men, discovered many holes in the research. For example, women were not equally represented in many of the studies that were considered male specific. Seeing as how most studies conducted were to benefit men, they used males most of the time. Another factor that wasn’t accounted for was the lack of experience that women had in many of the fields that they were tested on. No
