Nina Madison 10/11/2011 SOCI Extra Credit Write-up Vivian Gomick discusses the negatives of romantic love through Emma Goldman’s perspective of her anarchist view of the subject gained through her experiences with men. Emma Goldman is devoted to the idea of “free love” and disapproves of the government and state’s notion of defining love due to its impact on peoples cultural perspective of what love should be. She advocates the idea of sexual freedom and the rights of birth control and marriage. She believes that the article of faith is the right to speak freely which she demonstrates through her speaking on the subject of love. With a passion for American dissonance, she believes that free love always people to question the meaning of life and what it is to be truly human. Through her anarchist ideas, she attempts to feel free within her own self by practicing erotic love which she deems as the most powerful due to potential of sexual ecstasy.
