A 20 byte header is added at each of the transport, network, and data link layers. There is a 4 byte trailer added at the data link layer. How many total bytes are sent to the hardware? What percentage of the bytes sent to the hardware is the original application layer data? total bytes = 500 bytes + 20 bytes + 20 bytes + 20 bytes +4 bytes = 564 bytes % application data = number bytes application data * 100% total number of bytes = (500 bytes /564 bytes) * 100% = 88.7% 2. List the layers in the five-layer TCP/IP model and give a brief explanation of each.
