Team Case/Exercise 2 _HRAD4523 Vision and Mission Statements Exercise 2A: Evaluation Matrix of Mission Statements PURPOSE: A business mission statement is an integral part of strategic management. It provides direction for formulating, implementing, and evaluating strategic activities. This exercise will give you practice evaluating mission statements, a skill that is a prerequisite to writing a good mission statement. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. On a clean sheet of paper, prepare a 9 x 8 matrix (b) , Place the nine mission statement components and the following eight companies (a). 2. Write “yes” or “no” in each cell of your matrix and include component-related words/phrases within quotation marks in order to indicate whether you feel the particular mission statement has included the respective component. (See Appendix for examples) 3. Turn your paper in to your instructor for a class work grade.
