Do they strike you as truly important? And if not, what should the central concerns be? The ideas and concerns that currently drive anthropological inquiry are relevant. These ideas are the basic understanding of how humans interact with each other. Descartes’ philosophy is that if it were not possible to be certain of our own thoughts then we would have no foundation on which to build our knowledge of the world. They are “relevant” and “important” for the same reason. We have tried to understand human interaction and because of this we can observe what has worked and what has not. Through deductive reasoning we can take this information and improve our society and develop as a community. Through our obtained knowledge of the world we can succeed. 2)
