Chapter 6 Worksheet Name: Joshua Singer TA and section: Rosemary 1) What kinds of “sanctions” have you endured when you breached a norm – within your family, among your friends/peers, perhaps among roommates? When breaching the social norms sanctions from family and friends are not as extreme as expected. People that I know well will make a snarky remark about how immature I am or will just ignore it because the action will have been so ridiculous to acknowledge. 2) What do you think about the way Dinka murderers are dealt with in comparison with your own society’s rules? What are your own ideas about justice and restoring social tears, and are they similar or not to Dinka ideas? In a modern court that would not have been acceptable. Depending on the circumstance the murderer would have been put to death. The Dinka’s repayment is much different from my society’s rules they seems less harsh but may be just as effective in their society. My ideas on social tears reflect that of the Golden Rule:
