2 Note to (i): double bonds in small rings (3 – 7 carbons) can only be in the Z configuration, as the E isomer would not be stable – hence E/Z nomenclature is not even used in small rings. Note to (ii): this molecule has two substituents on the same side of the ring (pointing at us) – this is denoted with the cis prefix ( cis : from latin, meaning: on the same side).
