Use charge-minimized Lewis structures. BE (S=O) = 536 kJ·mol -1 BE (P=O) = 460 kJ·mol -1 BE (P–Cl) = 331 kJ·mol -1 BE (S–Cl) = 250 kJ·mol - 3. Use the following data to calculate the electron affinity of S (g), i.e. , the enthalpy change (in kJ mol –1 ) for the reaction S (g) + e S 2– (g). Lattice enthalpy of K 2 S = –2052 kJ/mol Formation enthalpy of K 2 S(s) = –365 kJ/mol Sublimation enthalpy of K = +90. kJ/mol First ionization enthalpy of K = +419 kJ/mol
