Case title: Greentree Investment Corporation (GIC) Assignment Questions: 1. Perform stakeholder analysis: Where does the relationship exist? Between client and advisor, or client and firm? What is critical in the relationship? The evolution of the sophisticated, discerning client created a client-investment advisor relationship that was based mainly upon trust. Because the relationship was formed to manage money, a very serious concern for most people, the relationship often developed on a personal basis as well as a professional one. Many investment advisors believed that despite the importance of financial performance, the first reason a client would stay with an investment advisor was for relationship. However, as most investment advisors earned a commission for every purchase or sale executed on a client’s behalf, despite whether or not the client was earning sufficient returns, the potential for conflicts of interest between the clients and investment advisor was constant.
