44:005 Fall 2011 Review sheet for final The final is not cumulative, it covers all material since the midterm, and is of equal weight as the midterm Map making - know the different forms of maps and the types of data that can be displayed using each form (e.g., choropleth, dot density, rate data, “raw” data)- if given example data you should be able to determine which map type(s) would be appropriate - understand issues associated with map scale and map generalization Remote Sensing - know what the electromagnetic spectrum is and the utility of different regions within the spectrum for image analysis (e.g., visible, near IR- last part is associated with next issue) - know what a spectral signature is and why it is useful - understand associated terms, e.g., spectral, spatial, radiometric, and temporal resolution, push broom vs. whisk broom, charged coupled devices, near IR, reflected vs. emitted energy - know about commonly used satellite systems (e.g., Landsat Thematic Mapper, MODIS, Spot, Quickbird, Ikonos), know relevant detail like spatial resolution and
