1. Identify the most important facts surrounding the case. Talking about leadership issues in this case, we need to first understand the basic whole story chronology in a very objective sight. When and where the wildfire occurred, how were the forests and facilities located, what crews were participating in the fire attack, what role was each different crew playing in the attack, what was their strategy or workflow through the whole attack process, what was the result and fatality number? Most importantly, understand of their working norm, ethics, and standards, safety regulations, organizational control makes great sense to analyze and provide recommendations. 2. Identify the key issue or issues. Key issues which are important to analyze leadership problems in this case would be: what type of leadership they had during that period of time?
