PUMP: A pump is a mechanical device using suction or pressure to raise or move liquids, compress gases, or force air into inflatable objects such as tires. OR A pump is a machine or device for raising, compressing, or transferring fluids. TYPES OF PUMPS Q.2 What is a centrifugal pump? How does it work? CENTRIFUGAL PUMP: “A centrifugal pump is a rotodynamic pump that uses a rotating impeller to create flow by the addition of energy to a fluid. “ Centrifugal pumps are commonly used to move liquids through piping. The fluid enters the pump impeller along or near to the rotating axis and is accelerated by the impeller, flowing radially outward into a diffuser from where it exits into the downstream piping. WORKING: A centrifugal pump uses a spinning "impeller," which normally has backward-swept blades that directly push water outward.
