Transcription Read transcript from 5' to 3', meaning the gene is on one of these strands Changes in DNA structure Coding (sense) strand: contains the DNA code for the transcript Template (antisense) strand: used to make RNA transcript Nucleotides come in as triphosphates Pair of phosphates removed Nucleotides attached to complementary bases on template strand of DNA DNA double helix begins to re-form as RNA polymerase makes transcript & moves forward RNA polymerase will receive a signal when there is enough transcript & it releases itself from DNA Code: CGA Template: GCT Transcript: CGA
