DeJesus Operations Management for Managers OPM 500 Module #5 Session Long Project Dr. Jean Gordon During the course of this paper I will identify how e-commerce might be incorporated into IBM operations. I also will consider other ways that e- commerce might influence IBM’s operation of services and products. I will discuss the downfalls that IBM might expect. In addition, I will point out downfalls that need to be identified prior to any implementation of changes in the way activities are currently conducted. Lastly, I will provide some possible benefits of e-commerce that are important for IBM. In today’s industries information technology (IT) has become the cornerstone of conducting businesses. The purpose and intent of e-commerce application is to help companies such as IBM to achieve greater competitiveness and efficiencies by integrating processes across their businesses with partners, suppliers, and costumers. As managers we need to keep in mind that back-up data and recovery are crucial; therefore, critical application such as e-commerce need to be in place no matter what.
