Touro University International Jose A. DeJesus Operations Management for Managers OPM 500 Module #5 Case Dr. Jean Gordon For this paper, I was assigned to read the article, “Goods to Wal-Mart, Get on the Net” by Ann Zimmerman. After reading this article, I will discuss how Wal-Mart has become one of the best companies around the World with e-commerce implementation. I will compare my shopping experiences looking at similar items with on-line service vs. regular stores. In addition, I will talk about the experiences I have with e-commerce. E- Commerce allows Wal-Mart to underscore the way internet and simple off-the-shelf business software are overhauling the retail-distribution system, making transactions cheaper and faster for both retailers and their suppliers. As managers we need to keep in mind that time is limited in the organization; the competition is moving fast. Companies need to be aware of how they are organized; it will make the difference between success and failure.
