Module 1 Case During the course of this paper I will decide if McDonalds is a retail franchises service or manufacturing organization and explain what characteristics drove me to that conclusion. I will describe what line of products or services this franchise produce. In addition, I will compare the USA web page with the Italian and other country web pages under McDonalds’ “Country Sites” and show if there is evidence of flexibility in their franchise operations. Lastly, I will discuss some aspects of McDonalds’ supply chain management. McDonalds is one of the world’s leading global foodservice retailer franchise. The company has more than 30,000 local restaurants serving nearly 50 million people in more than 119 countries each day. This company is one of the world's most well known and valuable brands and holds a leading share in the globally branded quick service restaurant segment of the informal eating-out market in virtually every country in which they do business ( http://www.mcdonalds.com/corp/about.html ). We can say that McDonalds is a company that provides a service instead of manufacturer because they provide a fast food service. In other words, this company does not manufacture, instead they service customers by providing foodservice franchises worldwide. Like I mentioned in the previous paragraph, McDonalds is a foodservice retailer
