Why is it important to recognize the types of health issues that result from toxic stress? The name of the stress hormone released by the body is Cortisol, which is a hormone that is released by the adrenal glands whenever the body is subjected to chronic stress and is distributed through throughout the body in the blood stream. It is important to know if cortisol stays in our body for long periods of time it will drastically reduce our bodys natural immune system, leaving us venerable to become sick like easily catching a cold, high blood pressure, and the bodys ability to control blood glucose levels can be affected. Our bodys natural reaction to stress is to release the hormone into the blood stream, as a result the heart will bump faster, breathing rate increases, blood pressure rises, and blood floe to the muscles increases with a sudden increase in sugars into the...
