Kimbra Ussery 9/19/2011 There is no such thing as a free lunch. Just because you did not pay with your lunch with a monetary value does not mean it is free. Somewhere, somehow, it was paid for. On this particular day my grandmother had a doctor’s appointment in Macon, Georgia – nothing serious, just a check-up. My mother took her so my younger brother and I decided we would tag along. The main reason that I decided to go was so I could eat at my favorite restaurant, New China Buffet. My brother just decided to go to serve as a nuisance to me. However, I was determined not to let him ruin my good mood because it is a pretty big deal when you are eleven years old

As I think back to this day, I cannot decide if the most disappointing part was not getting to eat at my favorite restaurant like I had so hoped or the fact that the New China Buffet did not give the rest of my family even a discount while I, their number one fan, was suffering such a major injury. I never imagined I’d pay for my lunch with my own blood! And this was a lunch paid for with my own blood that I did not even get to eat....
