Music 17, Winter 2012 Professor Hellier-Tinoco Paper: Report on a music event ( 30%) Grading rubric: Criteria Percentage Insightful, informed, rigorous, and analytical content and discussion 35 Application of concepts, theoretical frameworks, and material from course 35 Evaluation of methodology (techniques and skills from course) 15 Referencing (in text) and references cited/bibliography (correct formatting) 5 Overall structure, style, and organization of paper 5 Grammar, spelling, punctuation 5 The report is due Monday 12 March in class, 10AM (week 10). Late papers will not be accepted. Your major writing assignment for the course is a music-culture report. It must be typed and approximately 1200 words (about 4- 5 pages, plus bibliography or a references cited list. Double-spaced, 12-point font, Times or Times New Roman). Content: You should present a rigorous and analytical report discussing a music-culture event that you have experienced this quarter. You MUST draw upon and apply concepts and theoretical frameworks set out in Worlds of Music (Titon) and utilize material from lectures and sections. You should demonstrate understanding of ideas, concepts, techniques and skills taught in this course The report must be on a music-culture event you experience this quarter . The purpose of the report is for you to demonstrate your understanding of, and engagement with, basic concepts
