Arko Dewri Mrs. Dewey English 9H, Period 2 05 October 2009 Outside Reading Essay The Young Wizards by Diane Duane is a world-wide popular series of novels about two young wizards, Nita and Kit, later accompanied by another young wizard, Nita’s younger sister named Dairine, and their thrilling adventures with wizardry. The series contains many novels about Nita, Kit, and Dairine, but the first three novels, known as the “trilogy”, are the most important where the characters, the wizardry world, and the significant conflicts of the wizardry world are introduced to the reader as the magic begins. The first novel of the series was published in 1983. People who are “Harry Potter” fans have been strongly recommended to read this series of novels, though the setting takes place slightly long before the time of Harry Potter. So, why not experience the first few steps of wizardry with Nita and Kit, along with Dairine, The Young Wizards. The first novel of the series is called So You Want To Be A Wizard . The story begins with an ordinary thirteen-year-old girl, Nita Callahan, constantly being bullied by another girl, Joanne, taking refuge in a library one day after being chased by the bully. Nita’s life was not very easy with the bullies. But everything changes when Nita finds a thin book named “So You Want To Be A Wizard” by the sake of fate. The book entirely changes her life as she takes the “Wizards Oath”. She was imposed to find another young novice wizard, Kit Rodriguez, and together they start their journey into the world of
