Ch.4 enterprise information system: ERP, CRM, SCM The feature of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), how do they help to improve internal business processes? The feature of Customer Relationship Management (CRM), how do they help to improve downstream business processes? The feature of Supply Chain Management (SCM), how do they help to improve upstream business processes? 4.1 enterprise system Traditional company has existed four functional areas such as MTK and SALE, SUPPLY CHAIN MGMT, ACCT and FINS, HUMAN RESOURCES. They all have different function for the company such as, marketing a product, sales forecasting, budgeting, recruiting etc. they are highly interrelated. ACCT and FINS has to know the billing purpose, Marketing and Sales has to know the recommendation for others customers base on previously customer. Supply Chain MGMT has to fulfill the order and the inventory. In traditional company, different department have different hardware and software applications. Applications on different computer are more difficult to integrate because the data cannot share between they system (other department) HOWEVER ………… Enterprise-wide information system (enterprise system) can solve the above problem. It is information system that allow companies to integrate information across operation on an entirely company. It provides a central repository 倉庫 common to all corporate users. It allows personnel 全體員工 to share information no matter where the data are located or who is using the application. P.120 Diagram 4-3 (enterprise System Approach) compare with the traditional approach (Legacy system approach) which is separate information storage files for different business activities. In order to keep company s customers satisfied, they need to provide quality customer service and develop product faster and more efficiently to compete in the global market. Enterprise system is not only focus on internal operation and also focus on business activities that occur outside the company.

Enterprise systems come in different shapes and sizes, it provides a unique set of features and functionality.
