02:22 Sexism A SOP that privileges males over females Patriarchy Forms of social organization in which men are dominant over women. Sexism is what allows patriarchy to occur. 3 Characteristics of Patriarchy male dominated- positions of authority are generally reserved for men. Male identified- cultural ideas about what is good or normal are associated with men  and masculinity. Male centered- the focus of attention is primarily on men and the male experience  represents the human experience. Male centered oscar films. Misunderstanding Patriarchy Groups and Individuals Due to intersectionality, not every woman experiences equal degrees of oppression.  But women as a group have an inferior gender position. False “s of oppression Men are not oppressed as men.  Women are subordinate because they are defined as  woman. Maleness- not devalued, good, positive, higher or more powerful gender status.
