Conclusions: Primary motor and somatosensory area and how they’re mapped topographically so that areas that are adjacent in the surface are adjacent in the brain. Proportionate representation – high sensitivity = highly represented out of proportion to the amount of surface area they correspond to. Nervous systems can be understood through localization of function and specialization. Function gets segregated. Skeletal and autonomic systems Autonomic – fight and flight responses. Rest and regenerate responses. More of a modulatory role in how these processes are carried out in the body. Skeletal – we can move our body. Proportionate representation Topographic organization Monism dictates that the brain does not serve the person; brain structure and activity is the person. Activity of the brain is the thought. They are one in the same thing. Two hemispheres Left and right hemisphere Connected by bundle of axons called corpus callosum. This is how they communicated with each other. Redundant systems. Hemispheres are similar.
