Cuatrecasas maintains many offices in many different locations, each previously with its own information systems. The only way information could be shared among offices was by e-mail, and that was also difficult to manage because of version control problems. These problems were solved by adopting a single platform for enterprise-wide knowledge management. Why would a knowledge management system be especially useful for a law firm such as Cuatrecasas? A knowledge management system was especially useful for a law firm such as Cuatrecasas by giving employees the tools which enabled them to participate in knowledge sharing, promote communities of practice and a knowledge culture, and design appropriate taxonomies for organization knowledge.
