ECE 231 – Fall 2010 Programming Assignment 1 Due: Monday, August 30, 2010 at 11:59 PM You need to develop a program that calculates an employees pay. The program should ask the user to enter both the number of hours worked during the week and the hourly pay rate (be sure that they are entered in this order). You will need two variables for these values (you could use an int for the number of hours and a double for the pay rate.) Next, the employee will be responsible for both federal and state taxes. The federal tax rate will be simplified according to the following table: Lowest Weekly Pay Highest Weekly Pay Rate \$0 \$161 10% \$161 \$654 15% \$654 \$1585 25% \$1585 \$3305 28% \$3305 \$7186 33% \$7186 No limit 35% On top of the federal tax, all employees must pay a 5% state tax. In this program, there are no exemptions or other deductions taken from an employee’s pay. To understand this table, a person who worked 40 hours and earned \$25.50 per hour will gross \$1020.00. To determine their federal tax, they will first pay at the 10% rate up to \$161.00. So they will owe \$16.10 in taxes. Then, the next \$493.00 (\$654.00-\$161.00)
