Name: Xuan Zhao Expand voter registration Some states allow citizens to register to vote at the polling place on Election Day. Other states require citizens to register to vote at a time prior to Election Day. I believe that allowing citizens to register to vote at the polling place on Election Day is good for voter turnout. We should keep it. According to latest reports, voter turnout of United States declined steadily after 1960 even though there is an upward trend in presidential election voting. As our voter turnout is so low that the government, not only national but also states must take steps to change it. I believe that it will be a disaster if the citizens fail to participate. Registering to vote at a time prior to Election Day has many drawbacks in terms of the voter turnout. Because they had to register beforehand, citizens who forgot or otherwise failed to do so were unable to vote. It is also difficult for people who do not reside at an address for a minimum period to qualify for the registration. What’s more, some states even have more strict
