MIS 302F, Fall 2011 Homework 1 Company: Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) Business Model: Swedish retailer H&M has long been the world’s leading purveyor in the global st most valuable global brand in 2009 and 2010, making it the highest ranked retailer, worth an estimated $12-16 billion. H&M is fast-growing operating about 2,000 stores in some 35 countries with direct sales operations in some areas. Germany is H&M’s #1 market with 25% of sales with the majority of clothing made in Asia. Our slogan is “Fashion and quality at the best price.” Industry Structure Model Rivals: Zara, The Gap, Forever 21, Mango, Uniqlo Substitutes: handmade clothes, Customers: Our main product consists of cheap-chic clothing, mainly for men and women ages 18-45, children’s apparel, and our own brand in cosmetics. The targeted locations are normally major cities in Europe with 10 in Manhattan alone. Guest designers offer variation and personal style during different fashion seasons. Competitive Strategy Model
